For many years, when people thought of alcohol and drug rehab, the image that almost immediately came to mind was most likely a group of people, sitting in a circle in folding chairs in a big vacant room. Its true that group programs still aid many people in their quest to stop drinking and using illegal substances but most who have fell too deep into their addictions do not find relief this way. There is good news for those who need help getting over their addictions – slowly, there has been a proliferation of alternative therapies to alcohol and drug rehab. These methods may prove useful when traditional rehabilitation methods fail.

It seems when ever I experimented with marijuana, it caused me great paranoia, to where I would loose sleep the whole night. But when I drink a pint a vodka, I have a great tolerance for alcohol and it does not cause any paranoia at all, I can go right to sleep and have no worries.

A lot has been said, written and preached about depression. Many researches and analysis have been made in this regard. Others feel really irritable and that no energy is left in them to lead a happy life.

In order to avoid triggering panic attacks, suffers should take note of the following points:
Alcohol
Reduce your alcohol intake…or stop drinking altogether. Studies have shown that alcohol can cause depression and vitamin deficiencies, which can worsen your panic symptoms. Alcohol will also cause hyperactivity in the nervous system and elevates alertness. Although being alert is not necessarily a bad thing, this increase in alertness can causes agitation and irritability and make you more susceptible to panic attacks.
Caffeine
Same thing with alcohol. Reduce intake or avoid it completely. Tea, coffee, coke are a few examples that you should avoid. In numerous studies, caffeine has been shown to provoke panic attacks in people with panic attacks. In addition, it may increase anxiety and cause insomnia (which most panic attacks suffers are already experiencing).

“Regarding focusing on the good things, when you are depressed it is impossible to do. Yes, you can make an effort and think about them but it doesn’t affect the mood/feelings. That is the nature of depression, it is beyond feeling ‘fed up’ and really all you can do is go with it.” – Victoria, a bi-polar disorder sufferer.

I need to write an essay and it requires that I take one major concept in the book, such as guilt or poverty or alcohol or whatever, and give my take on what I think the concept means philosophically, supporting myself with quotes. Any ideas on what concept you think is most important or how I should write it? Anything helps.

I recently asked a ? I asked for a cause affect. I take responsibility for all my actions be it future be it past. I blame no one. There is though a problem when a society see’s the drug abuser as the main cause for all it’s problems. So once again I ask the cause of drug/alcohol abuse whatever anyone wants to call it blame whatever The issue is what is the cause of drug abuse?Which came first the chicken or the egg. This is for me an issue of great passion. I know a young woman when she was 14 she was kidnapped raped and shot up with speed her abuser just recently was released from prison he got 2 years for a very violent crime. This young woman will forever have to deal with the shame of what happened to her for many this is very difficult most don’t even persue the issue with there abuser The two things the predator counts on shame/fear that shame/fear needs to be returned to them they should carry that burden not the abused
