A question on medication for OCD?
I have been diagnosed with a severe form of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). But now, I’m thinking it might be PO OCD (Purely Obsessional OCD). Either way, I have been on many medications such as the first line treatments including: Paroxetine (Aropax), Sertraline (Zoloft), Fluvoxamine (Luvox), Fluoxetine (Prozac). I have been on Clomipramine for about 2 years but I’m now terminating it. I have experimented with second generation anti-psychotics including: Risperidone, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Solian. Also, I have dabbled with Haloperidol, Largactil, and Stelazine. I have even tried self-medicating with Rohypnol, Oxycontin, Codeine, Dextropropoxyphene, Subutex, all the benzos: Valium, Serepax, etc. Hypnotics: Temaze, Mogadon, etc. Even alcohol and cannabis. NOTHING IS WORKING. Not even combinations. My mental health is deteriorating very, very fast. I am running out of options. This illness is destroying my life. I am getting worse by the day, even by the hour. There are a few possible experiments that I could conduct. Such as Clozapine, Dextroamphetamine, Lithium. If you know of ANYTHING that might work, (Single drug or combinations) please reply. Thank You for your time.

Complete strangers on Yahoo Answers won’t be able to help you on this. You need to see a psychiatrist who can evaluate you and prescribe you medication or a combination of meds that can help you. I know it’s really difficult when you don’t have any option but to see someone and go through the hoops of finding something that actually works, but once you do, it will really be worth it.
Good luck and stay healthy.
One thing you have to remember is that it takes a long time for these medications to actually get in your system to work. The question is during your “experimentation’s” how long have you been taking just one of the pills for more than two weeks? You have to let it do it’s job. Now one thing that you are doing is obsessing on your medication. I understand that it is hard, but there is no quick fix. Also, I am concerned that you are just quiting the medication. Most anti-psychotics need for you to slowly stop them so the withdrawal from your system will not be fatal. You need to keep seeing you psychiatrist and get some counseling on the side for your obsessive behavior like behavioral therapy that can teach you coping skills.
i used to have OCD but not as bad. i don’t no if this is any help but i used an anxiety CD which was provided by an pycologist. OCD is sometimes caused by anxiety problems. there is a drug called Benzodiazepines which helps relief anxiety. it mite be a be a good idea o go and see ur GP and they may prescribe you something or refer you to a pycologist. i went about 8 month ago and now i don’t have it any more, things such as setting targets for yourself also helps overcome areas of OCD. i know how you feel its hard to get though the day with this on your shoulders.i hope thid info helps Kayleigh.
