drinking while on these meds is never a good idea. I think you also need to see the doctor to have your medication properly tweaked. sometimes it takes a couple of tries until you find the right medicines for you. It took my husband two tries before they found the right one what I find unusual is they are giving you antidepressants for anxiety and panic attacks. what happened to xanax and a good therapist. talk with your doctor yahoo answers isn't really the place to be getting medical advice but mixing alcohol with your prescriptions is a no brainer. It will affect how they work and can be dangerous.

Can't say for sure what led to the panic attack. It is best not to drink too much when you are on meds. It could have been the reduction of your meds that caused the panic attack too. Take it easy on the drink and see how you go. One panic attack is no big deal!

Laura is right. Alcohol is a depressant while lexapro is an anti-depressant. The 2 don't mix well at all. If you were going to drink it would be better not to take the lexapro for that day but you will still feel like crap from the medication in your system. Consult your doctor about this matter. He can tell you the best way to go about having a few drinks with your friends while continuing your treatment.

Having a few drinks will counteract the effects of an antidepressant since alcohol is a depressant drug itself. If you care about yourself don't drink any more - unless you are an alcoholic and you CAN'T stop. If that is the case then you have REAL problems...
