I am wondering where i can go for confidential drug addiction help with a oxycontin problem in my family.?
I hate to give any information that might cause shame on my family. We are very well known and I would like to keep this “under wraps” yet I feel the need to ask for help. Thanks for this anonymous method i can safely ask, but I need to know that the confidentiality will be present during the alcohol and drug treatment in des moines, ia. please help!

find a private rehab Dr that does that sort of covert thing….you may have to go out of town. you really don’t give much info…the dr that writes the scripts should help..there’s tons of places doing quiet rehabs…of course you need to do more than talk about it. And keep in mind that getting off oxycontin takes at least 3 times longer and is harder physically than heroin.
Any type of recovery program or rehab will be confidential– The notes from therapy, the treatment plan, your billing information, EVERYTHING, is protected the same way as regular medical information: strictly confidential. If you (or your family) don’t want to be seen/recognized going somewhere, you could pick a place a county away and that would reduce your chances of it.
I know this isn’t part of your question, but please don’t be ashamed by this situation. Millions of people suffer addiction and, although it is a painful experience, its not unheard of. You’d be surprised to know how many people have been in your shoes.
Best of luck, and email me if you have any more questions.
I agree with beach bum you can go to a drug program where they just use first names only know one will know , if you can handle outside treatment you can go to n a meetings you only give first names so good luck
Obviously if you are well know you are also well off. So my suggestion is for that family member to enter Hazelden in Minn.
I am a Substance Abuse Counselor in MO and would be more than willing to discuss anonymously what you can do to help your family. Please feel free to read my profile and IM or email me. I will be home all afternoon. It is 12:45 here. God Bless ReggieR
There are drug rehab facilities in IA and most recovery programs are very confidential with your information.

You can also think about going to the west coast where they specialize in drug treatment. Good luck!
You should start with the doctor that prescribed it. You didn’t mention why it was prescribed to begin with. Lots of people will say that once you start taking this drug, it is impossible to get off. Not so. I have a family member that was taking it, not easy to get off of it, but not impossible.
Talk with the doctor about your concerns first and foremost. Since it is a family member, go with them the next time to the doctor, and address your concerns.
Well yours is not a unique dilemma. who would want to make public the skeletons in their closet? Do not feel bad, yor situation is very common. I would like to recommend St Gregory Retreat Center in Iowa. http://www.stgregorycrt.com they are very confidential, your privacy, security and safety is of the highest importance. please check out the short video on their home page and make and informed decision.
good luck!
If you contact any sort of drug rehabilitation center, or interventionist they will keep all the information you provide them with confidential. Additionally if your family member enters one of these facilities to undergo treatment it will be kept strictly confidential.
