I want to know your thoughts on the legalization of marijuana!?
But first, please read this, and then respond…i wanna know what you think!
I smoke pot about everyday and always wonder why marijuana is illegal and why alcohol is legal. You always hear about people who die from drinking and driving, an innocent person died because of a drunk driver, or because of alcohol poisoning. People become aggressive and their thinking becomes impaired.
But how many times have you heard of a person overdosing on marijuana? It‘s impossible to die from smoking too much pot and you can‘t get addicted to it like you can with nicotine and alcohol.-but u can become an alcoholic and potentially die if you drink too much. I know there’s been some deaths from driving high because of delayed reaction, but who would you trust,
1. a raging drunk swerving all over the place, or
2. a stoner driving the exact speed limit, or a bit slower, trying to stay in between the white lines?
The government knows very well that marijuana isn’t as evil as it’s portrayed, they know the benefits it can cause. They know how dangerous alcohol is and how there’s more and more people dying everyday because of a drunk driver.
Some people say that the only reason the government won’t legalize marijuana is because they’re scared people will use marijuana to cure their problems, like depression, muscle pains, sleep problems and whatever else, instead of going to the doctor, thus losing money.
However, I‘ve been wondering, why….? Why isn’t the government smart enough to legalize it, tax it, and make it available for people over 18 to buy? They can make a shit ton of money just off of a plant! It’ll make up for all the money the gov. makes from people charged with possession. It’ll also make a lot more room in the prisons for real criminals.
So considering these things, I’m curious as to what your opinion on the whole thing is?
-Why do you think marijuana is illegal?
-How beneficial do you think it would be if it was legalized?
-Will making it illegal save our economy?
-And lastly, if you’re a smoker, what are the reasons to why you smoke?
To me, I think marijuana should be legalized. It’s like a self therapy ritual for me.
You can’t argue that marijuana is safer and more beneficial than alcohol. It’s facts. Statistics. But people have their opinion, so I want to know how others view it.
PS: If you are against marijuana and feel like it is “stupid” to partake in an occasional use of marijuana, do you drink alcohol? If so, how do you (besides “alcohol is legal”) do you justify your feelings on marijuana? I want both sides–even if your an uptight-angered person who can’t see the wonderful effects it shares. Ha a little mj could cure your negativity.
***Thank You in advance to those who took the time to read and respond to this…hopefully lol***

Best reasoning is to make friends with a handicapped Down Syndrome kid and explain to him why his IQ is better than yours.
Personally, I don’t care for pot. Never have; however, I do think that pot is MUCH less dangerous than alcohol, and I’m sure that many others would agree. If it were legalized, I wouldn’t cry about it.
It should be legal and taxed. One should never drive while under the influence of a drug.
There was a movement called the Temperance movement around the early 1800s in America. The reason it failed is because those in the alcohol business suffered as a result of the amendment passed to ban alcohol (I believe it was the 20th..?). So economically, banning alcohol could hurt everybody.
Yes, it is a known thing that alcohol impairs your judgment but however, the government makes it “illegal” regardless of anyone’s opinion. I’m guessing you live in the USA and yes, I would certainly agree they are quite harsh down there.
I live in Canada and for the most part, weed is tolerated up here. I mean, it’s still illegal but you would NEVER go to jail for it – worst case the cops would just take it away from you (and then go smoke it themselves)! If you are a “pot head” then you definitely want to come to Canada, as long as you don’t mind paying high taxes and deal with FREEZING COLD winters. Oh, by the way – if you go way up north (the Northwest Territories) you can buy weed in the store! But it’s below -40 there in the winter and it’s even cold in the summer.
I quit smoking pot almost 2 years ago…I know where you are coming from!
I do drink in moderation, and I do enjoy caffeine.
I do not use any illegal drugs whatsoever. I would not start were they legalized tomorrow. I would not encourage anyone else to use them, but neither do I lecture, advise, or moralize with anyone about it.
I favor ending the “war on drugs” totally. I base this on three questions.
1. Does it cost money? I think between police, prosecutors, judges, public defenders, and penal institution personnel the answer is obvious.
2. Does it do any harm? It’s a reason for children to shoot each other over who can sell on which corner, and occassionally innocent people do get shot, and this is because there are no other jobs for 12 year olds besides selling drugs that pay well enough to buy cars and machine guns. Occassionally warrants are mistaken and get served on innocent people, and some overdoses are attributable to an inconsistency in concentration and purity of ingredients. I think there are downsides.
3. Is it working? No one denies that inmates of prisons can get drugs if they want them. That means that we aren’t even stopping the people we catch, try, convict and incarcerate. No, it is not working.
You remind me of the lady testifying in a court case about whether or not a drug was addictive or not. She said, “It is not addictive and I know. I’ve taken it everyday for the last 30 years and could stop anytime I want.”
Well, How long have you been rebelling against authority?
Have you ever had a job? If so, I hope it’s not one that would require the use of what faculties you have or have not.
Keep on smoking.
Interesting thoughts. I live in Holland so marijuana is legal here. Drinking is permitted for people older than 16 years old. I could say that legalizing marijuana could give the government certain possibilities to control it more, so I wouldn’t say that it should be in any circumstances allowed. That is giving people too much freedom. Society needs limits, society needs control. Not every person is wise enough to know its own limits, therefore I believe marijuana could not be allowed just like that. In Holland you can smoke marijuana, but it is not that you can just smoke anywhere. You can smoke at home or in the famous places called “coffee shops” you might see someone smoking on the streets (however officially you are not allowed, and if there are children near by or something, it is possible a police officer would kindly invite you to stop smoking).
I don’t believe society is ready to have the freedom of uncontrolled usage of marijuana. I am not against someone who smokes or anything, however, to allow it like this, would open a door to more problems.
My thoughts are that every one of you tokers who post the same question every single day should do some of their own research (i.e. searching for this question) before you ask it. It’s asked and answered everyday like clockwork.
If you potheads would stop trolling for vindication of your abuse and actually take some action, then maybe we’d stop hearing what you do and how proud you are to do it and there’d be some actual reform.
