Is it alright to drink alcohol while taking lexapro please read more below?
My doctor has prescribed me lexapro to help control my depression/anxiety symptoms. I am a 25 year old male and weigh around 140 LBS (5-11 height) I happen to enjoy a few beers with dinner or a glass of wine. Is it alright to drink while taking this medication. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Your doctor knows! I would ask him!
Ummm…I wouldn’t ask anyone but a doctor. We don’t know no more than you do.
Garrett – It is contra-indicated to use alcohol while taking any SSRI medication such as Lexapro. Having said that, talk to your doctor. My doctor said one glass of wine or a beer or wine cooler would be okay on occasions. I rarely drink so this has not been a problem for me and I have not experienced problems on the few occasions I did have a little to drink.
youre not supposed to drink while youre on medications. even if its a few beers, believe me i asked. the drs said that it basically wipes away the effect of your meds and you need to start over to get everything back into your system.
I can just tell you from experience that yes, it was ok for me to have an occasional drink. I was on Lexapro for a year, and although they say drinking is to be avoided my Dr told me it was ok in moderation. Even some nights I would get pretty drunk and I never had any interactions. good luck and I hope that helps!
It’s suggested not to drink alcohol when taking antidepressant medications.
No. It counteracts with the ssri. Dependent on what you’re taking it for, it could increase your feelings. Like your anxiety could be increased, etc. I suggest not even a couple of drinks.
No no no, alcohol is not to be mixed with antidepressants ever. I did this and became very, very ill.
