A Panic attack is the sudden appearance of an episode of intense fear or anxiety, which includes four or more symptoms: rapid heartbeat (pounding heart), trembling, sweating, a feeling of suffocation, chest pain, dizziness and nausea.

It is estimated that up to 4% of the population suffers from severe and frequent panic attacks. In women the disease is 2 to 3 times more frequent than in men.

The panic disorder is a condition in which the recurrent anxiety attacks are followed by the widespread concern that there will be another crisis, so the person leaves in constant fear. Not all patients who experience an anxiety attack will develop a panic disorder. There are many patients who only had one experience of an attack, which was never repeated.

This condition may be accompanied by agoraphobia. Agoraphobia is a condition in which the patient is afraid to go outside the house. The fear comes from thinking that any panic attacks that will occur in such places – away from the safe area of his home-will find them unprepared and helpless. This can lead to many problems. It can lead to losing your job, a complete social exclusion and zero self-esteem and confidence.

* Without treatment, the sufferers may still get anxiety attacks for many years. This can seriously affect their relationships with family, friends, and colleagues.* Their life becomes more and more difficult. For example, the person may begin to avoid situations that cause him fear. These may be everyday activities like shopping or driving. In extreme cases, people with an untreated panic disorder are too afraid to leave the house.* Many people with this disorder also suffer from severe depression. Often, trying without success to reduce the symptoms with alcohol or other substances only aggravates their symptoms. In severe cases it can even lead to suicide.* Some people may find it hard to be productive at work. The symptoms of this condition can prevent them from going to work or remaining there once they arrive. They may even reject a promotion or an assignment, because they believe that it will make them more vulnerable to attacks. Some people even quit their jobs.

The condition can be fully addressed with the appropriate treatment. This is the good news. The bad news is that most people try to cure it with drugs. Drugs have many side-effects and can lead to addiction. What is more, they only treat the symptoms and not the root cause of this disease.

To treat this condition you need to take control of your mind. Here are a few ways to do that:

* Do not try to fight your feelings. The more you are willing to admit and face the problem, the easier it will be to get rid of it.* Stay in the moment. Observe what happens to you and do not allow yourself to become prey to what you think is happening to you. You are not really dying or going crazy. This is only in your mind.

Abuse of alcohol and drugs is often a symptom as much as it is an addiction. It is a symptom of anxiety or depression and it boils down to the fact the person is unable to express deep seated emotions or feelings in a constructive manner and uses substances as substitutes.

Through my own torture I like to call it sometimes it is unbearable some days to even contemplate on leaving the house, going to work or even just attempting to walk to the local shop. All of these seem too much hard work and the inner feelings which seem to elevate into more of a panic scenario which most of the time is very hard to control without any help or guidance. It is quite interesting looking at anxiety definitions to determine how that fits in to the way you are feeling at the moment, but the main objective for us all is to get out of this and resume our normal life or in fact leading a normal life knowing that it can be defeated.
The first step in regaining control in an attack is to learn to breathe correctly. When someone has a panic attack, frequently they become so distressed that they simply forget to breathe.

Most doctors recommend breathing exercises in order to help calm down someone who is experiencing an attack. If you think an attack is imminent take control of your breathing. Breathe from the tummy not the chest and consciously try to extend the outward breath, by counting if necessary.

To be most effective, you ought to know and apply your breathing drill before an attack builds up. Have a plan-learn calming breathing techniques and practice at least twice every day.

Additional relaxing techniques might also help you to avoid or at least lessen the severity of a panic attack. Naturally, you might find it hard to think about meditation whilst you’re experiencing a panic attack, but by acquiring the ability to meditate, you will be able to apply some of the same quietening ways that assist you to meditate in order to help you calm down.

These are all natural remedies which you can try and practice as it does take time, but relaxation and breathing is the key and read more on the subject as once you have developed an understanding of anxiety then you can conquer it.

My name is Jaz Lee and I also suffer from anxiety and panic and simply would like to share my thoughts with people who are also in the same situation. I do a lot of reading and writing on self help projects to help in my own life but also could help others.
fatnews.com Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com. For 30years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions. In this video clip, she tells how a deficiency of vitamin B3, niacinamide, can cause anxiety depression and fatigue. She also notes that vitamin B3 can eliminate a kind of alcohol psychosis that causes paranoia and feeling quarrelsome. Note: the doses of vitamin B3 used for this are several thousand milligrams, which is a much higher dose than is found in multiple vitamins. Dr. Larson also points out that anti-anxiety medicines such as Valium, Xanax, Ativan, and Librium attach to the same anti-anxiety receptors in the brain as vitamin B3. She also notes that when the patent for Valium ran out, the drug company, Hoffman LaRoche, admitted that they got the formula for Valium by trying to copy the chemical structure of vitamin B3. Imagine that. “Niacin, vitamin B3, [ later she corrects this and says what she meant was niacinamide, which is the non-flushing form of vitamin B3 ] reverses a kind of alcohol psychosis that people who have been drinking typically have, where they feel paranoid, and quarrelsome, and may even have sensory disperceptions… “Niacin [ niacinamide ] will turn that around completely. “[ People with a vitamin B3 deficiency ] may look like they are schizophrenic, but they’re not. “If you treat them… and at …

Causes of depression:

At the primary stage nobody really knows what causes depression. To say in medical term it is a result of low levels of particular neurotransmitters (the chemicals that carry signals from one nerve cell to the next) in the brain. People with depression are known to have lower brain levels of these chemicals and drugs that elevate them can help lift mood. Some types of depression do seem to run in families, suggesting a biological vulnerability. Other factors which cause depression are:

1. Emotional stress

2. Mental tension

3. Psychological disorder

4. Low self-esteem or anxiety etc.

Some symptoms of situational depression

There are a wide variety of symptoms that a person may experience if they are suffering from the condition that is known as situational depression, otherwise known as adjustment disorder. Some of the symptoms this condition can cause would include the following.

1. Constant worry

2. The feelings of hopelessness

3. Headaches

4. An increase in the amount of drug or alcohol use

5. Stomachache

6. A lack of energy and feeling tired

7. Sadness

8. Having difficulty sleeping

9. Crying that occurs frequently

10. Appetite changes – Either eating more than normal or completely losing an appetite

11. Nervousness or anxiety

Depression Treatment

Psychotherapy

Person suffering from depression faces a traumatic period, this affects his work, family and social life. It becomes difficult for him to relate to his environment. Psychotherapy involves various techniques to treat depression. Psychotherapy for depression may vary from 2-3 weeks to twenty weeks. The main technique of the therapy is counseling which has become synonym to psychotherapy. Psychotherapy involves not just the client but also the family, it is more involved with person and family. The techniques so involved can be:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

This therapy (CBT) involves the treatment of depression, anxiety and any sort of mental illness.Cognitive therapy is based on how thought processes work, depressed people are more inclined towards negative thought. They have a feeling of failure in them and therapists, General Contractor try to change the thought process towards the positive side. It is very important for the therapist to be patient while listening to the patients. Reports and data suggest that this therapy is very effective and people who take it have minimal chances of relapse.

I feel like I need marijuana to feel happy, but when I have had a long night drinking and get wasted, the next few days or sometimes even weeks I feel messed up and have OCD what if thoughts. Today I have took no drugs/alcohol and liturally feel suicidal. I am so tempted to just crack open a beer from the fridge right now because I have no weed. What is causing my depression? I drink like once or twice a week heavily and feel like a beer almost every day. I’ve quit smoking weed many times but still have suffered anxiety and depression and came running back to it as like a medicine.
