Question by Goku kills trolls: How to get over severe insomnia from alcohol withdrawal?
I am on my second night being alcohol free but there is a huge problem. For the past 2 nights I have been suffering from severe insomnia and anxiety. What can I do to help alleviate these symptoms? I couldn’t sleep even if I tried because I seem to have this overwhelming energy. Is this normal with alcohol withdrawal. How long will it take for these symptoms to go away?

Question by Dill: Bipolar self-medication hypothesis from a neural perspective?
Hi, im trying to take a neural perspective on how bipolar patients self medicate with alcohol and cocaine. In looking for something like bipolar has ventricular enlargement and alcohol causes ventricular shrinkage, therefore the theory makes sense. But i have had no luck so far. Any help is appreciated.

A lot of folks take to alcohol as they suspect it eases out their nerves during panic situations. It’s right that a drink or 2 gives you a more relaxed feeling so does that imply alcohol may be employed to keep panic attacks in check? Positively not!

Question by Adore this: how long does it take to detox from years of alcohol abuse?
A friend of mine has stopped drinking but, he feels hung over still. It has been one week. He has lost five pounds and has more energy. I afraid he is just in the honeymoon phase of quitting. (meaning it’s easy at first and then it will hit him hard)I heard somewhere that alcohol detox is worse than heroin?! He is a major drinker for over thirteen years. Any advice?
