When you love someone close to you, sometimes you need to make the tough decisions. When someone you are close to is obviously abusing alcohol or drugs, you know that the best thing you can do to help them is to get them into a rehab program. It will be hard for them and perhaps hard for you as well, but you know that this is what you need to do for them to help them before the problem gets worse.

Alcoholism is very serious disease manifested through continued drinking and craving for alcohol. It can cause numerous alcohol-related problems, such as breaking the law or losing your job, and even death. The symptoms of alcoholism include increased tolerance to alcohol, physical dependence, impaired control and craving for alcohol. Increased tolerance refers to needing more and more alcohol to get high. Physical dependence refers to the symptoms that a person has once he or she has stopped drinking after a period of drinking alcohol heavily; these symptoms include anxiety, sweating, nausea, shakiness, etc. Once a person has begun drinking regularly, we can witness what is referred to as impaired control, that is, the inability to put an end to it. The craving for alcohol refers to feeling a strong compulsion to drink.

Alcohol abuse amongst seniors is a hidden epidemic, and few people outside of the immediate family ever even know when a senior is having problems with drugs or alcohol.
Older people are at an increased risk for alcohol abuse and addiction, and unfortunately, as old age brings greater rates of alcohol abuse, so too does that abuse cause greater health and cognitive problems.

You know how there is rehab for people dealing with drugs, alcohol, sex, and etc. is there a place for people with depression? were you stay there and work through it. i don’t know if you would call it rehab but like treatment center i guess.
