Question by : Is there any other non-prescribed drug for depression/anxiety other than alcohol?
I abuse alcohol frequently because of my untreated depression/anxiety. Are there any other alternatives to alcohol without having to see a doctor? I am afraid to have to see a doctor because I am a male and I hate feeling like I can’t handle things on my own. I have had some recent problems with short term memory which I believe is from the prolonged alcohol abuse. I am 19 years old and have been drinking for years. I really like it, but I know it is not good for me and is only a temporary cure for my depression.

In youth culture, both are huge topics now-a-days.

Going through school, I did have ‘small lessons’ about the effects of drugs and alcohol, but never in depth. I also think depression should be something that is covered in school. Especially considering now in youth culture, 1 minor kills themselves approx. every 2 hours in the US, more adolescents have died per. year from suicide than AIDS, Cancer, Heart Disease, Birth Defects and Lung Disease Victims.

Although I am not from the US – I would definitely like a greater understanding of all three within the education system even though I no longer attend any form of education.

Ive read, and been told by therapists that shyness is genetic. As a big believer in Genetic Determinism, i have concluded that i will never be able to overcome my shyness, just like most genetic disorders cant be cured or overcome. I don’t much are for therapists(too much mumbo jumbo, no hard science), and im crippled by shyness. So my question is, are there any meds out there that can help over come this? If so what? I used to take meds for anxiety and depression, but they didn’t do much to get rid of my shyness. Only thing that does is BOOZE, and im fine with that. But im curious, is there any other chemical out there, or pill that can treat shyness. Alcohol can be expensive, but its the only thing that works so far.
yay no good answer…:/

They say 1 in 8 kids are sexually abused and 1 in 5 are abused in some way. How many pedofiles are there in the world? How many of these abuses are just alcohol fueled ?

I was abused and i find it strange that there are so many like me … what causes it? Is it caused by:

Being abused as a kid then u grow up like a pedofile?
Alcohol and Drugs?
Mental Illness ?
Anger or Hate or Depression?
