Depression is a serious medical illness that involves the brain. It’s more than just a feeling of being “down in the dumps” or “blue” for a few days. If you are one of the more than 20 million people in the United States who have depression, the feelings do not go away. Depression can occur for what seems like no reason at all or can be triggered by a traumatizing life event within a person’s life. The cause of depression still remains a mystery among the medicinal world, however many experts say genes may have an effect on the likelihood of depression within a family and a lack of the chemical serotonin in the brain may be linked to depression. Just like all other medical conditions depression has a series of symptoms that can be diagnosed and treated by a medical professional and can be defined as a never ending sad mood or affect as well as a loss of interest in life and life’s activities. Although a low mood or state of dejection that does not affect functioning is often colloquially referred to as depression , clinical depression is a clinical diagnosis and may be different from the everyday meaning of “being depressed.” Many people identify the feeling of being clinically depressed as “feeling sad for no reason”, or “having no motivation to do anything.” One suffering from depression may feel tired, sad, irritable, lazy, unmotivated, and apathetic. Clinical depression is generally acknowledged to be more serious than normal depressed feelings. It often leads to constant negative thinking and sometimes substance abuse . Extreme depression can culminate in its sufferers attempting or committing suicide . Without careful assessment, delirium can easily be confused with depression and a number of other psychiatric disorders because many of the signs and symptoms are conditions present in depression , as well as other mental illnesses including dementia and psychosis .

My husband is not only alcohol dependent, he’s got depression as well. It’s hard having to live with him. We want to get him treated. Does anyone know of any treatment centers in Roosevelt, Utah, that caters to individuals with dual diagnosis?

Where To Find FREE Treatment for Depression?

I’m about to be 22 and I’ve been suffering from severe depression for almost 10 years now. When it first happened is kind of blurry, however through my diaries and older pieces of art, I’ve come to the conclusion that it became most intense when I was 12. I’ve gone in and out of the same slumps ever since.
I’m very self-destructive…I used to ‘cut’ during middle/high school and then turned to drugs and alcohol once I came to college.
I got help once two years ago (by force because I got arrested and counseling was part of my sentence) and a mixture of therapy and anti-depressants helped a bit, but didn’t cure anything.
However, my depression has risen back to a point in which I’m constantly in pain. I’ve started cutting/burning myself again because the drugs just aren’t numbing me enough anymore…
I know I’m depressed and my depression is bleeding out onto those around me…I’ve been reclusive and can barely speak. I feel like I’m living in my head and I’m constantly being tormented by my thoughts.

I know I need help, but I can’t afford it. I don’t have insurance either.
I don’t know what to do or where to go that would help me for free.
I’d appreciate all help. Thanks.

I need to find treatment centers for a friend of mine with dual diagnosis. She’s been having a really hard time struggling with her alcohol addiction and depression and I really want to help.

If you think you might have a problem of alcohol, then the first thing you need to do is to take a minute to understand the problem.  Unless alcohol has really started to cause problems in your life, then the first warning sign that you have a problem is probably the guilt that comes with alcoholism.  Therefore, the first thing that you are going to have to do is acknowledge that the guilt comes as a result of alcoholism.  Once you have decided to tackle the guilt and the problem that caused it, then you can begin the process of treating yourself.

You probably felt it all along, but kept hoping that you were wrong. The guilt might be building up, causing you a lot of stress and anxiety in other areas of your life. The more you try to push it away, the more it manifests in other areas of your life. Eventually, you will have to come to terms with the fact that you have a disease, but that doesn’t mean you should be embarrassed or ashamed. The disease I am talking about here is alcoholism, and it affects millions of people worldwide. Although there are several factors that contribute to someone being diagnosed with alcoholism, the truth is that it affects people in different ways. The truth is that it doesn’t really matter where it came from, but it does matter how you handle it.
